I wish I had time to share my thoughts about the first week of school. Alas, I do not. Tonight, Rand and I will be heading to Cleveland–usually, my trips to Cleveland are happy ones to spend time with friends. This time, though, we will be saying goodbye to one.
My friend Jen’s mom lost her battle with breast cancer this week. She was a beautiful, vibrant woman with a heart full of love, and she will be dearly missed by many people.

I also learned, when I got home from school today, that Madeline L’Engle, author of my favorite book, died today. I’ll post more thoughts about that one at a later time.

Date: 2007-09-08 04:31 am (UTC)One of my (and Rand's, and Randy's) English profs, Jack Leax, was in a loosely affiliated group of writers with Christian themes called the Chrysostym Society; she contributed to some collaborative projects of theirs. The oddest may be their first, Carnage at Christhaven, an honest-to-goodness murder mystery that doubles as a comedy of manners, satire of evangelical mores and self parody. Worth tracking down, since L'Engle was amazing even when silly.) *smiles*
My condolences to your friend Jen.
