I wish I had time to share my thoughts about the first week of school. Alas, I do not. Tonight, Rand and I will be heading to Cleveland–usually, my trips to Cleveland are happy ones to spend time with friends. This time, though, we will be saying goodbye to one.

My friend Jen’s mom lost her battle with breast cancer this week. She was a beautiful, vibrant woman with a heart full of love, and she will be dearly missed by many people.

I also learned, when I got home from school today, that Madeline L’Engle, author of my favorite book, died today. I’ll post more thoughts about that one at a later time.

My favourite book is Madeleine L'Engle's The Young Unicorns. I'm still discovering more of her books and loving them as much as the ones I read as a kid. Talis and I have been trading her books, and I bought A House Like A Lotus from a Canadian bookshop in March - wow. What a wonderful writer.

I haven't read The Young Unicorns yet. I have a copy of it...somewhere... ;)
